“Finally alone,” I had envisioned myself sighing, in anticipation of Ben’s departure for The Last Waltz tour, honoring Robbie Robertson.

I had stayed up past 1:00 am the previous night, so I was very tired when the alarm went off at 6:30am and I had to get ready to take Catherine to school. Eggs, toast, tea, then Ben and I got to say a quick goodbye before she and I headed out, and that was it: I’d be alone at last.

Alone to write, to reclaim some lost personal space, to be with my thoughts and to make something out of the changes that I have been experiencing as a woman, mother, wife, artist.

Once home from school drop off, however, I found myself thinking: “What now?”

October has been a month full of revelations, and consequently full of numerous moments of questioning: “what now?”

On October 21st, I attended the premiere of Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, a beautiful documentary directed by Thom Zimny, which chronicles the behind-the-scenes preparation for the band’s 2023-2024 World Tour.

During the Q & A that followed the screening, when answering a question on the two themes that most stand out in the set list — mortality and living the life we have left to the fullest…
