Things I Am Liking

Lighter little things that have brightened these tense days of change and important decisions: autumn scents, the sacred silence of a cemetery, and The Golden Bachelorette.

Hi everyone!

I am very happy to be publishing a brand new Things I Am Liking. This time, I have purposely reached for things that are frugal to talk about — little everyday moments, objects, actions that spontaneously came to prominence and never needed a deeper meaning to be given legitimacy and weight; these are all things that have made these past weeks brighter, more colorful, and why not, I might as well say it: happier!

My newsletters are soul-searching, the environment we live in necessarily summoning our involved participation for important causes, philosophies, tragedies, choices, so I needed this to be something different.

I am writing this on the day before the election: my jaw has been hurting for days, clenched by fear, stress, exhaustion and wild dreams. I have been carrying with me a tension headache for two days, and no amount of CBD oinment I rub on my neck seems to be helping. The Santa Ana winds blew very strong last night; I love them passionately, like you love a turbulent lover that comes and goes without announcement, but I also know they bring out my my darkness, my uncontrollable intensity, my propensities and my moods, together with an easy blow out for smooth, straight hair for a change.

So the things I have decided to focus on may seem superficial, but what they have been doing for me is balancing the depth of actions required by the times we live in, with the lightness of being we need to keep at it.

I would love if you could all share the few frugal things that have made this heavy times lighter, brighter, and I’ll say it again — happier.

I have been smiling and clenching my jaw through the entire writing of this, which means what you are about to read is an unrehearsed, unedited sliver of my life.
