Things I Am Liking
An ode to Larry Mantle, Tarot Cards, and a few other recent sources of joy.
Hi everyone, and welcome new followers! Thank you for trusting me and for downloading yet another app to be part of this community and Monday Lives.
You are the real deal, and I am lucky to have you by my side along this crazy ride, one of those that — if a Disneyland one — I would not set my foot on. And yet, here we are: February 7th, 2025!
This, as you will see, is a column for paid members. You will have options to subscribe, but are never required to, in order to participate in fellowship. You can do that at anytime, pay by month, by year, do a free trial, give it a try and then stop, but I love you either way, remember that.
Things I Am Liking is one of my favorite columns to compile, every other week or so, and this one I really enjoyed preparing.
As always, this is never just a list of things I happen to find and like; this is my attempt at practicing attention and curiosity no matter how dark and painful moments of life can be.
Things I Am Liking is also a place for you to share with me your practice of curiosity. I love this portion of it, because when you share what you have been liking I get to know you; I get to have a glimpse into your life, at the city or town you live in, at what your are going through, at the interesting movies you have seen, the museums, the new ice cream or potato chips, a hobby, a new love.
I am liking this strange place that is Substack, this strange new place that is “away” from the flashy colors and superficial attractiveness of Instagram. I like the uncertainty of communicating here — I fear disappearing in a new place, not being found, followed, read — heard.
But I am liking these agitated and exciting feelings because unease is proof this had to happen.
I had been tiptoeing around it for a long time, so I am liking that I have made the first step into cultivating the new I want for me, for us, and for how I want to share my life in photos and stories at this growing stage of my womanhood.
